The Snowdon Skyline                                                       UK Ultras

This is a 24 hour sky run taking in 24 summits and 16,000' of climbing on the north-east to south- west skyline of the Snowdonia National Park between Conwy and Nebo.  It involves running and scrambling across some 39 miles of high-level mountain terrain.  Support provisions can be obtained en-route at Ogwen, Pen-y-Pass, Yr Wydffa and Rhydu while the start and finish are connected by public transport.  It was devised and first completed by Chris Wearne in an unsupported run taking  23 hours 56 minutes in May  2014 which included a 3 hour bivvy on Foel Grach.

Route

The object is to visit the 24 summits listed below starting near Conwy GR SH775778 and finishing near Nebo GR GRSH483500. Use OS Explorer map (1:25000): OL17 Snowdin/Yr Wyddfa

Caution:  The route includes seven grade one scrambles including Tryfan North Ridge, Bristly Ridge and Crib Goch.  While rock-climbing ability is not required runners need to ensure they have sufficient scrambling experience to negotiate exposed mountain ridges in unpredictable weather conditions.  Chris Wearne would be pleased to assist if further advice is needed, see below for contact details.
